Graduate Students
Graduate student applications are reviewed on an annual basis, consistent with the typical U.S. PhD/MA application cycle. Within Illinois' Department of Educational Psychology, Dr. Ratner advises students in Developmental Sciences and Counseling Psychology. More information about how to apply to Educational Psychology graduate programs can be found through the College of Education website.
Undergraduates are accepted into the lab on a rolling basis. Please note that research is time-intensive, and we care deeply about the quality of your learning experience. We believe learning is most effective when students are given opportunities to acquire skills and apply them, so it is not uncommon for us to push undergraduates to lead presentations, and even appear as co-authors on published papers, if their intellectual contributions rise to the occasion. As such, unless we have a short-term project underway, we rarely accept applications for time-limited appointments (e.g., fewer than two semesters).
