Graduate Students
Graduate students are accepted into the lab on an annual basis, consistent with the typical U.S. PhD/MA application cycle. Dr. Ratner is primarily affiliated with the Developmental Sciences and Counseling Psychology divisions of the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). More information about how to apply to Educational Psychology graduate programs, including the individual divisions offered by the department, can be found through the College of Education website.
Undergraduates are accepted into the lab on a rolling basis. Please note that research is time-intensive, and we care deeply about the quality of your learning experience. We believe learning is most effective when students are given opportunities to acquire skills and apply them, so it is not uncommon for us to push undergraduates to lead presentations, and even appear as co-authors on published papers, if their intellectual contributions rise to the occasion. As such, unless we have a short-term project underway, we rarely accept applications for time-limited appointments (e.g., fewer than two semesters).
